1. TAKING ACTION AGAINST VIOLENCE PANEL: CREATING SAFE SPACES FOR WOMEN & GIRLS

In Swaziland, 1 in 3 girls are sexually abused before they are 18. Girls’ Empowerment clubs are helping, as they have been proven safe place for girls to express themselves, understand their basic human rights and learn the skills needed to take control of their lives.
Come hear about this and other programs and initiatives addressing violence against women and girls at this free panel discussion. Featured guests include Cebile Manzini-Henwood, Executive Director of the Swaziland Action Group Against Abuse (partner of Crossroads International), Jacqueline Hansen, Women’s Rights Campaigner with Amnesty International Canada, as well as representatives from Sisters in Spirit.
2. On Friday, October 18th, 2013, Jacqueline Hansen, Major Campaigns and Women’s Rights Campaigner, Amnesty International Canada will give a talk titled “Where is Canada on Women’s Human Rights Issues?” at Luther College in Regina.
